Golden Globes: Trending Facial Hair

One of the big trend's of the night were how many of our favourite actor's were sporting facial hair.  Is this due to weather...adding extra warmth for the cold months, or for upcoming roles?  Either way it was a big trend so much for cleaning up for a black-tie affair!
